theme and variations

Under cover of Night we wait for you

our silent sister strong with sense

what would you do if I died in your arms?

How does the Earth revolve?

culmination of Fury rescinds our

insides and cries for justice – We

are the prodigal son gone wandering

in the Mist our untimely Ogres

waiting at the door – how do

you Stretch there in your sunlight,

hazy with Rain?

I

Occasions of delight in an Instance

soon Forgotten but still felt; How

lost are We who stray from the leader’s path?

II

Cradling fireflies in the dusk

we long for warm lips --

III

Spirits cease to live; they foretell

their own fall from Grace

as we leap headstrong into Fire –

IV

A wild cat did prowl – We

sustain Ourselves with

bark and berries -- We

weather the Storm that ignites Us –

V

Enter at your own discretion – it is

a round room with

Squared edges; the

inkling of a love once Pure –

VI

Vampires bite your Neck but

you don’t mind; a

vibrant whistle sounds

in the dark –

VII

Quiet Now, we will be together like

lions in the Jungle, lying

in the Jungle –

VIII

The Catfish whiskers are sunny and Warm – We

climb an icy ladder to Affix a beam – We

are masters of a broken Craft – Our

hearts enlarge to lure You --

IX

Can you hold your head up there a

little higher? Your eyes

instill in Us

a Sacred Trust –

X

Scarlet divas wrestle

with ideas --

XI

Who would stand with you

at half-mast?

XII

Ravens who feed Us land on Church Steeples

angled against the Wind,

our Faith unseen but palpable –

XIII

A sorrowful journey

ends

at Midnight --

XIV

trust in our oath – We have

come to

brave the Waters for you –

XV

Grace is an Eye

that Sees you – We climb

ladders

to be unseen –

Frozen in time

I Embrace you --
